Kim Tran is a first-gen Vietnamese comedy writer, performer and middle child born and raised in Austin, Texas.

She currently writes for NIGHT COURT on NBC. She also wrote for SPACE FORCE on Netflix and was a punch up writer for THE END IS NYE on Peacock.

Her film ZOE AND HANH was an official selection of the 2020 SXSW Film Festival, a Vimeo Staff Pick and is now playing on Short of the Week. She recently recieved a grant by the Austin Film Society to develop ZOE AND HANH into a feature.

She studied Biochemistry and Radio-TV-Film at the University of Texas at Austin. She later received the Michener Fellowship to pursue her MFA in Screenwriting and Playwriting at UT Austin, and then was selected for the NBC TV Writing Program. She is currently in The Orchard Project’s Audio Lab and is one of Austin Film Festival’s 2022 Screenwriters To Watch.

 

In addition to comedy, she loves food, travel and adventure. She once spent a summer riding her bike 4500 miles from Texas to Alaska raising money for Texas 4000 For Cancer, has backpacked the Camino de Santiago across Galicia and taught as a language assistant at a public elementary school in northern Spain.
